O’Melveny is looking for a dynamic and proactive Practice Innovation Attorney to join our team. This role focuses on helping attorneys integrate Artificial Intelligence and other innovative technologies into their practice. The Practice Innovation Attorney will be instrumental in finding opportunities for the application of emerging legal technologies and driving the adoption of these tools to enhance productivity and client outcomes. This role also involves conducting pilot tests of new tools and services, promoting firm-wide adoption, and providing research support through O’Melveny’s "AI as a Service" to attorneys, paralegals, and other firm departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with attorney practice groups, clients and cross-functional teams to identify use cases and assist with the development, design and deployment of innovative technology solutions, such as AI.
- Participate in the development and implementation of group and one-on-one training sessions to educate attorneys and staff on the use legal technologies and AI solutions.
- Curate and develop a collection of materials, resources and best practices to support the effective use of approved legal technologies and AI solutions.
- Provide substantive research through O’Melveny’s “AI as a Service” program as well as traditional research assistance as requested by attorneys and business professionals.
- Monitor the emerging legal technologies landscape and service delivery models to find potential innovation opportunities.
- Create current awareness alerts for monitoring of legal or industry topics.
- Identify attorney training opportunities by analyzing research request data and aligning with practice group goals and objectives.
- Provides support on other projects or duties as assigned. Monitoring of research workflow after hours can be expected.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- JD degree is required. Masters Degree in Library Science preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience as a litigation attorney or legal researcher in a legal environment is required.
- Experience with standard legal resources, such as Lexis, Westlaw AI, Harvey, VLex’s Vincent, CoCounsel, Bloomberg Law, WK’s VitalLaw, Capital IQ, Deal Point Data, Intelligize and other related subscription services.
- Strong command of technology and interest in innovation.
- Ability to work under time constraints and in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Strong organization skills, adept at multi-tasking and prioritization.
- Service-oriented, team player, with initiative and problem-solving abilities.
